Vision Statement: To develop the next generation of engineers in the Aerospace Industry. Mission Statement: Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics students and faculty will excel academically to attain the goal of becoming one of the upper one-half of one percent of similar programs in the United States, thus becoming a leader in our global society. An ANNOUNCEMENT FROM: American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Mr. Crawford, the Lead Teacher and Project Manager of Middleton’s Academy of Aeronautics & Astronautics and AIAA Student Branch sponsor, was notified in December 2008 that he was one of the seven recipients, from six states, of the 2008 AIAA Foundation Educator Achievement Award. The AIAA Foundation presents the Educator Achievement Award every two years to pre-college educators who have demonstrated exemplary efforts in exciting K-12 students about the study of mathematics, science and related technical studies and preparing them to use and contribute to tomorrow’s technologies. The Educator Achievement Award has been presented to 28 educators since 1997. This award is an international award, by nomination only, and has become a sought-after honor in the education community. AIAA President George Muellner stated, “AIAA is pleased to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our seven award winners. They are inspiring people, both to their students and to all who witness their dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching. Their passion, felt by thousands of students, is a key ingredient in creating the next generation of aerospace professionals.” The winners received a trip to Washington, D.C., where they were honored at the AIAA Aerospace Spotlight Awards Gala, a black-tie affair, held during the week of May 11-15, 2009.
